What Is Hazing?

Hazing is generally believed to be the abuse of new or prospective group members for the purpose of initiation or affiliation. This abuse can be physical, such as hitting or extreme calisthenics, or psychological, such as verbal abuse and humiliation. Hazing can be perceived as a rite of passage, however acts that involve physical or psychological abuse does not foster or promote healthy integration into groups or clubs.
